“It is the harmony among buildings, volumes, height, and free spaces that constitutes the architecture of the city.”Oscar Neimeyer - Architect
The Master Plan
Natural, social, and built environments influence the character of a Roche site. Buildings, natural landscapes, and open spaces relate to each other and their surroundings to create the character and identity of a site. Creating a sense of space will uniquely express the local qualities and functional requirements of the site. All owned Roche Diagnostics locations are governed by a Strategic Master Plan (SMP) that defines the framework and long-term vision of the site. Rooted in the cultural aspirations of the users and requirements of the division, the SMP establishes a balanced, comprehensive development concept to last the lifetime of a site.
Not what... what if? A range of possibilities
SMPs do not define a specific development trajectory. Instead, they provide for flexibility in the interpretation and implementation of their concepts. Design guidelines in the SMP’s 10 content areas ensure key consistencies in projects over time, while still allowing designers and project teams to distinctively shape their contributions.
Key to Creating a sense of place
- Reflect the site structure and design guidelines by the Master Plan.
- Interpret and contribute to the unique cultural aspirations of the site.
- Follow the site framework and organizational structure.
